KRUST: October 19th - Setting Boundaries
Kids Roleplaying Uncomfortable Situations Together
10:30am - 12:30pm | Red Emma’s Free School Classroom
We all have spoken and unspoken boundaries for ourselves and others. An important part of growing up is learning how to constructively respond when others cross those boundaries. This is especially true as kids settle into to a new school year and learn to respond to new classmates, new teachers, and new situations.
KRUST (Kids Roleplaying Uncomfortable Situations Together) is a group intentionally designed for children in third through fifth grade to learn how to better navigate tricky situations constructively and authentically without judgment. We use the interactive and participatory role playing technique of Augusto Boal’s Image Theatre to empower kids to express, embody, and explore those feelings. Then the kids will identify how they want to feel by the end of the week and what actions they can take to get there.
———
Adults are welcome to drop-off their registered youth(s) once they are checked in or stick around upstairs in Red Emma’s. Our group meeting is a snack-free space, so please plan accordingly. KRUST is a special collaboration between Matt Schultz of The Social Forest and Gab Sussman of Bmore Transform.
